Link Good Neighbour Volunteers offer help with transport and in other ways to everyone, regardless of age or circumstances, in complete confidence.
What is a LINK Good Neighbour Scheme?
LINK is a team of local volunteers who help the community by offering transport and other help to people in need.
LINK is organised by a committee of local people who oversee the general running of the scheme.
Who can use this service?
Anyone living in our area who requires assistance or help, regardless of age or circumstances. Maybe a prescription to be collected; help with transport for Doctor or hospital appointments; or some other kind of help.
How Does this Caring Service Work?
To get help, call the telephone number at the top of the page. The LINK Good Neighbour co-ordinator is happy to receive enquiries from people personally, or on their behalf through their Doctors, Nurses, Social Services, friends or relatives.
What We Do
- To and from hospital, surgery, dental and optician appointments
- To visit a relative or friend in hospital
- Top collect prescriptions, pensions
- To take you to and from day centres or clubs for people with disabilities
LINK schemes are registered charities and receive grants from many statutory bodies, including Health and Social Services. Funds are also raised from local events. We are always happy to hear from local people who are willing to spend some time, to become a LINK Good Neighbour volunteer. To help in the care of our community as a volunteer or on our committee, or with fund raising. Being a LINK volunteer can give you a new interest and make good use of your skills and experience. At the same time you will make a valuable and much appreciated contribution to your local community.
