Welcome to our virtual Christingle event.

2020 has been a strange & challenging year by all accounts. The traditional Christingle service held on Christmas Eve here at St Mary’s Church, Bishopstone usually marks the start of family celebrations for villagers and visitors alike. So, it would have been remiss not to attempt to replicate this gathering enjoyed by so many under the current circumstances.
The PCC has been working hard to make this a virtual event this year and has been assembling Christingles in kit form. The kits will be left in the vestries of St Mary’s in Bishopstone and St Swithun’s in Hinton Parva from this weekend. Please come and help yourselves by taking one kit per household. Reverend Bill will then be posting 2 YouTube videos on his channel – firstly to demonstrate how to assemble your Christingle kit and secondly a virtual interpretation of the Christingle service.
We therefore welcome you to take part in this virtual event to celebrate this joyful time that brings families and communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope.

For many years at the Christingle service, we have been able to support the work of the Children’s Society through generous donations. This year, a giving page has been set up with the support of the Children’s Society to make your donation directly to them. Please use this link to go to their giving page
